GAY HISTORY TOURS BENEFITS ARCHIVES by: Andrew Mouzin, Community Relations, Kansas City Museum
On Saturday October 9, Kansas City Museum is hosting its first-ever Kansas City Gay and Lesbian History Trolley Tour. Guide Ross Frees will narrate a 1-hour expedition to some well-known, some less-known, and some infamous locales that document gay life in Kansas City over the past 100 years. Tickets are $45 and include a wine-tasting reception by Cellar Rat in the Crossroads. You can purchase tickets on-line at www.kcmuseum100.org after September 1.
There are two tour times scheduled, departing from Union Station Kansas City at 2 and 4p.m. Our reception tasting will take place from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. so tour-ists can join us before or after their respective tours.
All proceeds from the tour benefit the collections of GLAMA: the Gay and Lesbian Archive of Mid-America. GLAMA is a collecting partnership of the Jackson County Historical Society, LaBudde Special Collections, University Libraries at UMKC and the Kansas City Museum. Funds raised will purchase supplies needed for collection processing and storage. Learn more about GLAMA at www.glama.us
